LoveJan is the selfie-verified dating app for the Persian & Iranian community — verification approval is required before a profile can appear in Discover, matching and messaging stay free, and voice calls happen in-app on iPhone with no phone numbers exchanged. iPhone and Android, launched 2026, starting in Los Angeles (Tehrangeles) and Orange County.

The story

Los Angeles is home to the largest Iranian community outside Iran, yet Persian and Iranian singles have had two options: family introductions, or mainstream apps where the top complaint — fake profiles and catfishing — hits close-knit communities hardest. LoveJan was founded in 2026 by Behnood Afshari Neshat, an Iranian-American founder in Southern California, on a simple conviction: verification should be the front door, not a paid badge. Profiles need verification approval to appear in Discover. Members can use the selfie check or request human review. On iPhone, the app folds the culture in with Cosmic Spark, a playful blend of Persian astrology (برج) and the Chinese zodiac, curated Persian events, and an English/Farsi interface. Astrology does not scientifically predict relationship compatibility.
