The story

Los Angeles is home to the largest Iranian community outside Iran, yet Persian and Iranian singles have had two options: family introductions, or mainstream apps where the top complaint — fake profiles and catfishing — hits close-knit communities hardest. LoveJan was founded in 2026 by Behnood Afshari Neshat, an Iranian-American founder in Southern California, on a simple conviction: verification should be the front door, not a paid badge. Every single member takes a real-time selfie that is matched against their profile photos before they can appear in anyone’s feed. The app folds the culture in rather than sanding it off — Cosmic Spark blends Persian astrology (برج) with the Chinese zodiac on every match, curated Persian events live in-app, and the whole experience is bilingual English/Farsi.
